Friday Evening Entertainment

Film Showing of the 2008 BBC TV Railway Walk with Julia Bradbury from Dolgellau to Barmouth along the Mawddach estuary.

Saturday Walks

A linear walk of 6-miles led by Chris and Jenny Mitton from Penmaenpool to Morfa Mawddach along the Mawddach estuary,  En route they witnessed the recovery of an injured cyclist by air ambulance. From Morfa MawddachStation they took the train to Barmouth , then the bus to The George III at Penmaenpool, where they partook of refreshments.

A  circular walk  of 8 miles led by John Collins from the hotel they walked the Afon Wnion valley to Dol-gamedd then climbing up past Ty-Newydd Uchaf inot access land to a height of 304 m. From here they descended past Gorwyr to Brithdir.  Then they climbed again past Tyddyndderwen, contoured through woodland  to evanually cross the B4416 to reach the head of the Torrents valley.  There were parts showing absolutely no signs of be walked and at one place where they just came to an impenetrable thicket and had to force a way around and enlist the guidance of a farmer.  They descended along the stream of the magnificant Torrent Walk, crossing over the road at the bottom to a track leading back to the hotel.

Tony Power entertained us with an interesting quiz.

Sunday Walks

A circular walk of about 6 miles led by John Harden from the hotel  east to Coed Dolgwartheg then south to the Cross Britain Way and the lower slopes of Y Foel.  Then back to the head of the Torrent Walk (B 4416).  After visiting St Mark's Church, they followed the NE edge of the Torrent Walk, across the road and back to the hotel.

The circular "New Precipice Walk" of  6.2  miles led by Tony Power from Llanelltyd climbing up 240m to the slopes of Foe lIspri and then  down to Pont Borthog. They crossed the toll bridge to Penmaenpool and followed the Mawddach Trail to the A 470 and back to the carpark.

Sunday Evening Entertainment

John Collins, Chris Mitton, Mike Fowler and Tom Halstead read a pastiche of Flanders and Swan's "London Omnibus" song written by Chris entitled "Birmingham HS2". Then Pat Collins, Jenny Mitton, Margaret Delaney, and Di Halstead read poems of their choice.  Then John , Chris , Mike and Tom recreated Peter Cook, Alan Bennett, Dudley Moore and Jonathan Miller's 1963 Beyond the Fringe sketch "Commentary on America", respectively .
