Temple Balsall Sunday, 2nd August
1. Longer walk - 8.5 miles
Sunday, 2nd August
A moderate circular walk of around 8 miles. Starting from the free car park in Temple Balsall, the route followed the Millenium Way northwards to join the Heart of England Way southwards. The route continued on the Heart of England Way to Chadwick End where it continued on public footpaths to the Grand Union Canal at Turnover Bridge. The route followed the canal northwards to the Black Boy pub where it rejoined the Millenium Way for a return to Temple Balsall. The route followed good paths with some minor road coverage. There were two solid stiles to cross. There was a lunch break at the Black Boy and at the end of the walk, tea and cakes were available from 14.30 in the Old Hall.

2. Shorter walk - 4.7 miles
A 5-mile 'amble' started from the car park at Temple Balsall. It was an easy, flat walk through pleasant Warwickshire countryside. There were about 6 stiles, with one being a little awkward. We had a coffee stop at the church at Barston, where we enjoyed Paul's rock buns, and another break at the Olde Saracen's Head pub in Balsall Street. At the end of the walk, we had tea and cake at the Old Hall, Temple Balsall. We saw the big Emirates double-decker airliner fly over.
