Tame Valley Amble Sunday, 5th July
An easy, level walk of around 5 miles on surfaced footpaths, pavements
and towpaths (no stiles). We started at Cookie's Carpark at Perry Hall
Park, formerly the site of an Elizabethan mansion, Perry Hall, which was
home of the Gough family, and demolished in 1927, and followed the
waterside Tame Valley Way to Forge Mill Reservoir and the RSPB Visitor
Centre in the Sandwell Valley Nature Reserve - our lunch stop. We then
made our way, past Hamstead Junior School, to the Tame Valley Canal,
which is about 15m above nearby houses, and followed the towpath for about
1.5 mi to the Alexander Stadium, before returning to the car park.
